Format: Ebook | Paperback
Just as love appears, so does the darkness. With her heart reaching out for one man, Brenna finds herself the target of an unknown stalker. Who is he? What does he want? How far will he go for her? Death is an option. Brenna discovers more than she bargained for and learns that the stalker will kill for her. It all comes down to decisions, and no matter what she chooses it will demand sacrifice and someone's blood. Excerpt: Brenna’s eyes fluttered open to see a blur of trees flying by. Her head pounded and her stomach began to roll from the pain she felt and the fast-changing scenery. A careful look at her surroundings told her she was in some older model car. She inhaled deeply to calm herself, but confusion set in as her senses were assaulted by unfamiliar smells. Her eyes widened in fright as terrifying memories began to flood her mind. Turning slowly, afraid of what she might see, she gazed at the man behind the wheel of the speeding car. She shivered when she saw he was just as repulsive as she remembered. Who was he and what did he want with her? Sensing her stare, a pair of dark, soulless eyes turned towards her. A smile appeared on his unkempt face. “Well, well, sleeping beauty awakes.” Brenna’s stomach rolled again as she felt his eyes slide hungrily over her body. She pushed up against the door in an effort to put as much distance between the two of them as she could, but he shook his head in disapproval. “No need to be dramatic.” He turned his attention back to the road. “We both know you won’t jump out.”
Interview Questions….
1. What
inspired you to become a writer?
I had been having dreams that really
bothered me. A friend of mine suggested that I write them down like a story
just to get them out of my head because many were repeating themselves. I did
and they stopped. I also found that some of the dreams could be good stories.
When I sent them to a friend, they demanded I write more.
2. When
did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
When my friends read my rough drafts and
wanted more. I wanted to write more and more then.
3. What
genre(s) do you write? Why do you write the stories that you write?
I have children’s books out there, but the
only adult one so far is paranormal/suspense/romance. I have always loved
romance stories, and suspense is fun to write because you can drive the reader
crazy. I actually had a friend giving me comments as she read Deep Connections
which was fun. She was threatening me quite often. I had the best laugh.
4. Where
did the inspiration for your book come from?
I mentioned the dreams earlier. This was
one of them though it was just a simple romance. It really grew from there and
turned into something really different.
5. How long did it take you to put the story
together?
The first draft was done in a month. After five more months of
expanding and deleting, the story was done. During the last month of it, I
began the sequel. That helped develop it further.
6. Can
you share a little about your novel with us?
Deep Connections is about a young school
teacher who has a steady boyfriend that she really views as a friend. She is
really attracted to the brother of one of her students. When he finally makes a
move toward her, she finds out that she is being stalked by some unknown
person. As the story goes, the romance develops as does the mystery and
suspense of who or what is after her. It quickly becomes apparent that the
stalker is not a normal human. He has powers that cause him to go places and
survive when no one else could. He is determined to have her and will kill for
her. I can’t say too much more or I give it all away.
7. Who
is your favorite charter in your novel and why?
Tahnee is my favorite character. The main
characters are Slaton and Brenna. Tahnee is Slaton’s mother. She is patience,
kind, and wise. I would love to be like her as I get older.
8. Now
that your book is getting ready to hit the stores describe how you feel in one
sentence?
It’s scary knowing people will read it and
have an opinion. I’ve had people who love it and then others who hated it and
thought it was horrible. You wonder if they are reading the same book. It is
hard to read those negative reviews.
9. What
has surprised you the most about the whole processes of getting your book on
the market?
I think the negativity about the genre. I
was told that I ought to be ashamed for writing paranormal drivel. Some
reviewers and other authors are downright cruel.
10. Would
you like to share what the reviewers are saying about your book?
It’s quite a mix. I have many who think it is
scary. To me, it is not but I was there when it was a simple romance. Some love
the fact that the paranormal aspect is slowly revealed. Others hate it. Almost
everyone says that it is very suspenseful.
11. How
many books have you written?
I have 3 books published now with a few
more almost there.
Deep Connections
A Gift for a Mouse – children’s book
The Nightingale in the Garden – children’s
book
12. What
are you working on next?
I have a few things that will be out this
year. One is the sequel to Deep Connections. It is called Dark Connections. I’d
love for the third and final book, Deadly Connections, to be out this year,
too. Then there is Trust Me which is a romance/suspense novella.
13. What
do you like to do for fun when you’re not writing?
I love to read and crochet. They help me
relax.
14. How
can readers contact you?
Email – writingwithsuccess@gmail.com
15. When does your book go on sale and where can
we buy it?
16. Last
but not least is there anything that you would like to add.
I would like to encourage readers to review
books thoroughly and not be nasty or mean. I’m not saying not to give a
negative review, but to do it constructively and professionally.
