Novels by Leigh Savage

About Angel of Death (Book 1 Vampire Romance):  The task at hand? Save the elder vampires from the plague of "the endless sleep." As a hired assassin, Mika Shadow knows not to let emotions get in the way. Given her skills and gifts, she's known as the Chosen One amongst her people. During her mission to steal the formula for anti-aging, and the elixir of life for the vampires, Mika finds herself facing the kidnappers who shattered her world as a young girl and abducted her from her mother. Her past comes roaring back to life! As she is dealing with those demons, Mika also finds herself falling for her target. She only has four strict rules for selecting a mission or dismissing it. The fourth and final one - No emotions allowed - falls flat the minute she meets Domonic.

About Shadows of my Past (Book 2 Vampire Romance):  Visions of death, sorrow, and anguish are common for Desi while working with the St. Louisville Police Department as a consultant in tracking down kidnappers and murders. However, a single touch from Barcuilai and her visions were of another time and place. Why then was the man in her visions standing right in front of her in the present? Desi wasn't sure how to handle these visions of sorrow that she saw when she touched Barcuilai. They troubled her in a way that made her feel as if her very soul was being torn apart. She wanted to flee; just as much as she wanted to erase the pain from his golden eyes. Together Barcuilai and Desi could not deny the connection they felt for one another. Will Barcuilai find love once more only to lose it again when Desi becomes the target of the very serial killers she's helping the police track down or will Desi just become another shadow of his past?

Bound By Blood: Collection of short stories of vampire, ghost and other creatures of the night: Bites: A family goes camping in the woods to spend time together. Instead they find something horrifying in the dark. Sacrifice: A young woman finds her true love only to find out that he is one with the night. Will she sacrifice all in the name of love? A True Heart: A man finds the woman of his dreams but why then is she in his every nightmare. Hers: A woman raped and murdered in her own home. Now her sprite seeks justice but whos to say where justice ends. The Naked: She can change her form at will to look like the love of your life but she is nothing like the image. Fallen From Grace: A young woman finds the man of her dreams or is he the very thing that nightmares are made of. Conflicts of the Heart: A young man finds love in the darkest places while being held captive. But can they escape or will they be doomed...and more.

Dream Dragon the Dark Side of Poetry: Dream Dragon is a metaphor I use for depression, it’s whenever you seem like life is a dream and things aren’t really happening to you but instead happening to someone else only you never wake up; then you realize it’s real.

Interview&Contest with Richard Long Author of The Book of Paul

About the Author:

Richard Long writes to exorcize the demons of his past and manifest the dreams of his future.

His debut novel, The Book of Paul, is a dark, thrilling, and psychologically rich supernatural horror/thriller that blends mythology, science and mystery into a page-turning addiction.

Richard is also writing a YA novel, The Dream Palace, primarily so that his children can read his books.

He lives in Manhattan with his wife, two amazing children and their wicked black cat, Merlin.

Interview Questions….

  1. What inspired you to become a writer?

I’ve been a voracious reader all my life and my first love was the classics. I never thought I could craft narrative prose on the level of my favorite authors like Dostoyevsky, but I knew I had a good ear for dialog, so I thought I’d try my hand at plays and screenplays. Then one day it dawned on me that I didn’t have to write like anyone else. I could write about whatever I wanted in exactly the way I wanted. It was so liberating that I dove right in and discovered my voice fairly quickly.

  1. When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?

I’ve always been a storyteller, ever since I was a kid. I used to amuse my friends with these never-ending stories that would pour straight out from my imagination. I was an artist too, and I thought that was my true calling. But when text kept showing up in my paintings I began actively pursuing writing.

  1. What genre(s) do you write? Why do you write the stories that you write?
The Book of Paul combines many genres: paranormal thriller, occult horror, humor, erotica, sci-fi. I love all those genres and don’t try to limit myself in the creative process with a pre-determined agenda based on easily definable categories appealing to cookie-cutter marketing demographics. I let the story tell itself the way it wants to be told. I write about what interests me, what I want to explore. I’ve always been drawn to dark, scary, morbid stuff. Science, religion and mythology are my other big interests. Basically, I’m a seeker. I question everything. I’m drawn to the wonder and mystery of life. I want answers. Due to the shortage of answers to the “big” questions, I make stuff up.

  1. Where did the inspiration for your book come from?

The initial inspiration for The Book of Paul came when I wrote the first line of the first chapter called Exercises: “He practiced smiling.”  I wanted to explore a character who had been so damaged by childhood trauma that he could no longer feel compassion, joy, affection, etc. and had committed all kinds of horrible acts. I wondered if such a person could ever regain that emotional capacity and be redeemed by love.

  1. 5.  How long did it take you to put the story together?

This is an epic seven volume series so I’m still working on it. I began about 10 years ago.

  1. Who is your favorite character in your novel and why?

I love Paul. He’s so much fun to write. When he’s first introduced, you think he might just be some crazy, evil, serial killer with an interest in the occult. As the book proceeds and all the puzzle pieces fit into place you realize that he is an incredibly complex character. He’s very funny, charismatic, at times even charming. He’s also completely unrestrained in his sadistic cruelty. I’ve always felt that any thriller is only as good as the villain, and I wanted to create what was my idea of the ultimate villain. Paul is great to write because it’s like letting my Id out of a cage. I get to play out my most evil imaginings and nobody gets hurt. I also had to find Paul’s humanity to make him really interesting for me. I didn’t want him to be some cartoon monster. Paul is also in a lot of pain, he was traumatized as a boy and his life was changed forever. By the end of the story you get to see many other sides of him. And of course, there’s a lot more to come.

  1. What has surprised you the most about the whole processes of getting your book on the market?

Unfortunately, the most surprising and daunting aspect of being published is how much marketing work has to be done – maintaining all these social platforms, blog tours, interviews, ad campaigns and on and on. I’m just starting to manage my time well enough to get back to writing every day.

  1. Would you like to share what the reviewers are saying about your book?

I’ve been fortunate to have received some really enthusiastic reviews. “Get ready for the ride of your life!” is a blurb that gets repeated a lot. Your readers can check out the full reviews on Amazon here: http://amzn.to/T2M3Mh

  1. How many books have you written?
The Book of Paul is my first novel and I’m about to complete my second, a YA fantasy called The Dream Palace.

  1. What are you working on next?

The Dream Palace is also part of a series, so as soon as I finish the first book, I’ll jump right into the next volume. Then I’ll complete one of the prequels to The Book of Paul called The Bone King and after that the sequel to The Book of Paul called The Book of Druids.

  1. What do you like to do for fun when you’re not writing?

I’m really into art, theater and film. I live in Manhattan because it’s the world capital for the arts. My idea of a great day is going for a walk on The Highline (an old elevated railway that’s been converted into a beautiful park), visit some art galleries in Chelsea, have dinner at a great restaurant then see a movie or go to the theater. That’s a slice of heaven for me.

  1. How can readers contact you?

GoodreadsGoogle+YouTube

  1.  When does your book go on sale and where can we buy it?

It’s on sale now in Print and ebook here:

  1. Last but not least is there anything that you would like to add?

I’m a gabber so I could go on for pages. What I’d most like to express is my gratitude to you Leigh, and all the readers and reviewers who have been so enthusiastic and supportive. It’s such a great feeling to bring your work out into the world and have it embraced with open arms – with the exception of Paul’s character, no one wants to embrace him with open arms. Maybe with an Uzi hidden behind your back.

Book Description:

Life changed for Deanna Brooks the night she attended a book signing for her aunt’s best-selling paranormal romance series. There she met Burney ‘The Cover God’ Sheridan. The model for the series’ fictional vampire hero, Burn is beyond handsome and has an overabundance of Irish charm. He’s too good to be true.

Burn Sheridan, a man with scores of past lives, has a secret: he is a vampire. Meeting Deanna is agony because for the first time in over two hundred years, Burn experiences the rarest of vampiric needs—the mate-of-the-soul connection. Keeping people at a distance has been Burn's existence for centuries, but Deanna makes his pledge of staying detached impossible.

Many obstacles lie ahead and the biggest of all may be Burn himself. Can Deanna and Burn overcome them and find lasting love?

Excerpt:

Deanna tapped her sandaled foot in annoyance. She didn’t want to bother with the guy, but Janice insisted, bouncing on the balls of her feet in excitement as they advanced toward the table.
As they moved closer, the model’s masculinity became more potent. She could hear the slight lilt to his deep voice as he answered the ladies questions. His eyes crinkled sexily when he smiled. His teeth were perfectly shaped and a brilliant white.
Deanna glanced at her aunt’s table a few times, hoping to catch her eye, but Carol was busy working her crowd. While Deanna enjoyed an historical romance she’d never quite taken to the paranormal genre. Aunt Carol always mailed her advance copies, but she usually wound up giving them to Janice. She should’ve given the books a chance. Judging from the crowd, paranormal romance seemed popular. There was a steady stream of women coming and going.
Janice clutched her arm. “We’re next!”
Oh, yippie-friggin’-yay. Janice stood next to Burn. Damn, he is tall. A few inches under six-six, anyway, Deanna observed. Janice babbled nonsensical chatter while the model smiled, nodded, and signed a couple of her paperbacks.
Janice put her arm around the man’s trim waist. “Take our picture, Dean!”
Deanna raised the camera and looked up just as Burn’s searing gaze swept over her like a roll of white heat. God, his eyes had turned from black to silver again. Those special magic contacts were amazing. Holding out the camera, she clicked and hoped Janice was in the frame because she couldn’t tear her eyes away from “Sizzle” or “Burn” or whatever his name was. Deanna clicked another for good measure.
Janice took the camera and shoved her toward the leather-clad hunk. Her mouth went dry, and her insides fluttered. For God’s sake, he was only a model. Why was she so flustered?
She stepped next to him and glanced up. Oh hell yeah, very tall. He towered over her by at least a foot. His arm stretched out to clasp her shoulder, and he brought her in tight against his side. Solid, rock-hard muscle. Her insides began to churn in arousal.
“What’s your name, darlin’?”
She couldn’t speak. Deanna was like Ralphie in A Christmas Story, sitting on Santa’s lap. Duh…uh. No words came out.
“Her name is Deanna, but I call her Dean!” Janice sang out.
Burn gently squeezed her shoulder, and it almost brought her to her knees, his touch was so intoxicating.
“Dean. I like that,” he purred.
Dear God. His voice, was he Irish? The tone sounded low, sexy, and rumbled deep in his impressive chest, sending shock waves through her entire body.
Then the unthinkable happened. A wash of scent covered her. Deanna could taste it in her mouth, and feel it on her skin. Was the overpowering aroma his cologne? Some guys liked to drown themselves with those tacky body sprays. Burn must have marinated himself in the swill.
Deanna wheezed and her throat closed up. Her hand clasped her throat. Trying to breathe through her nose was unsuccessful. The only thing she smelled was his spicy, musky, overpowering scent. Her eyes watered and her body trembled furiously.
“Are you all right, love?”
Deanna fell to her knees, fighting for every breath. Strong arms encircled her and carried her from the sales floor through to a door marked Staff Only.

Review by Leigh Savage:

Imagine getting to meet that sexy hunky cover model from your favorite romance novel.
Deanna could really care less about romance novels or the model that graces the cover that all the women are drooling over.

Who would expect that Burn the cover model that portrays the hunky vampire was really a vampire and from the moment he sees Deanna he knows that he’s found his soul mate now he’s got to find a way to convene her.

This story is fast past story that keeps your turning the pages eager to find out if love will overcome.
The connection between Burn and Deanna is so strong that no matter how much Deanna would like to deny logic she simply can’t seem to deny anything when it comes to Burn.  When it comes to Deanna and Burns relationship you Karyn Gerrard has written in a way that not only does the connection between them seems like a living breathing thing  that draws you giving you the hope that they will find a way to overcome everything to find their happily ever after.  This is a wonderful new twist to a vampire romance story that you’re sure to enjoy.
